Classes

You get better by training with people who know what they're doing.

No experience needed. Eight No-Gi classes a week in Chamblee, capped at twenty, with a coach on the mat for every one of them. Your first class is free.

We coach all of you the same way — patiently, and for as long as it takes for the technique to actually click.

What to expect

Every class is an hour: a technique taught and broken down, time to drill it while a coach watches and corrects, then live practice scaled to who you're with. First-nighters, recreational members and competitors share the room without being asked to train at the same pace.

What we don't do is teach you a simplified version to get you through your first months. You'll be shown the technique as it's actually supposed to be done, slower and with more explanation, because the alternative is learning something you'll have to unlearn.

Shorts or leggings, rash guard or close-fitting shirt, nothing with zippers or pockets, bring water. We'll handle the rest.

No-Gi

No-Gi is all we run — eight of eight classes. It's faster and more open than training in a gi: grips slide off, transitions happen quicker, and the game looks like the modern grappling you see at ADCC, the world championship of no-gi grappling.

It's also the version our head coach competes in at the top of the sport, which means the details you're taught on a Tuesday are the details being tested at that level.

There's no gi class and no gi to buy. Shorts and a rash guard, or a t-shirt you don't mind getting pulled around.

Fundamentals or All Levels?

Both are open to you on your first night. Fundamentals — Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30pm — is the small set of positions everything else is built on, worked with more repetition. It's a subject, not a beginners' class; experienced members train in it deliberately and nobody graduates out of it.

All Levels — Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 6:30am and 6:30pm — is the full curriculum, taught to one standard with the coaching adjusted around who's in the room.

If you've never trained, Tuesday or Thursday evening is the easiest landing. If those don't fit your week, book an All Levels class and tell us you're new.

If you've never trained before

You will be the least experienced person on the mat on your first night. So was everyone else who's ever been good at this, including both of us, and there is no version of learning jiu-jitsu that skips that part.

Classes cap at twenty. A coach is on the mat for every one of them, and both of us are there every evening. You get paired on purpose. Nobody is left in a corner to work it out alone.

Tell us it's your first class when you book. That's all we need.
